CD4 positive/CD8 negative/CD56 positive T cell large granular lymphocyte proliferations; clonal disorders of uncertain significance

چکیده
Clonal expansions of CD4 positive T large granular lymphocytes with or without coexpression of CD8 are extremely uncommon. These typically display an indolent clinical course and are said to be associated with other solid malignancies. We present the clinicopathologic features and immunophenotypic analyses of two rare cases of CD4 positive T large granular lymphocyte proliferation with expression of natural killer cell associated antigen CD56. Both had high positive anti cytomegalovirus (CMV) IgG titres and persistent lymphocytosis with a relatively benign course at 15 and 13 months of follow up, respectively.

Background: Job stressors in managers are progressively affecting and destroying their immune systems. The relationship between hardiness, stress and immune system is important for mental health. This study was designed to determine the resources in managers against stress, resources herein designated as “hardiness” and “social support". Also in this research, the correlation between hardiness,...

Background: Lymphocyte subsets enumeration is considered prominent in the management of primary and acquired immunodeficiency disorders. Because of local variations due to race, age, gender, and environmental conditions on lymphocyte subsets, and to improve the accuracy of interpretation of laboratory findings, reference intervals must be determined in every population. Objective: To establish ...

We identified 68 patients with clonal T-large granular lymphocyte (T-LGL) proliferations who were seen at the Mayo Clinic between 1984 and 1992. Nineteen (28%) were asymptomatic at diagnosis, while the rest experienced fatigue (60%), B-symptoms (12%), and recurrent infections (15%). Associated comorbid conditions included rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in 26%. Severe anemia (hemoglobin [Hb] < 8g/dL)...

Large granular lymphocytes (LGL) leukemias are commonly of the T-cell or NK-cell type. T-cell LGL leukemia is typically a disorder of mature CD3, CD8 and T-cell receptor TCR (TCR - T cell receptor)-αβ positive cytotoxic T-cells. Rare variants include TCRγδ+ variants and CD4 + TCRαβ+ cases. We report a case of each of these rare variants. An 83-year-old female presented with anemia and lymphocyt...

T he recently updated World Health Organization classification (WHO 2008) has made a great effort in revisiting and making order in the disorders characterized by expansions of lymphocytes with cyto-toxic activities. The cytotoxic response to a specific antigen is mediated by two highly professional although extremely different players, cytotoxic T lym-phocytes and natural killer (NK) cells, wi...
